Meet the Founder:
Lorenzo Ballarin
I was born and raised in Venice, Italy: a city surrounded by water, where my love for the ocean began early. Over a decade ago, driven by a thirst for adventure, I bought a one-way ticket to what I considered the ultimate destination, the last frontier: Australia.
Travel and exploration have always shaped my life. I’ve spent years crossing Australia’s most remote and spectacular regions, from the reef to the red deserts of the outback, always in search of what is wild, authentic and extraordinary. Along the way, I’ve worked as a scuba diving instructor, professional film-maker, luxury yacht captain and expedition leader, gaining a unique perspective on Australia, its landscapes, its people, and the tourism industry from the inside. Those years also allowed me to build trusted relationships with exceptional operators and local experts across the country, knowledge that now shapes every journey we create.
Australia captured my heart, and today I’m proud to call it home as an Australian citizen. My understanding of this country comes not only from travelling through it, but from living and working in some of its most remarkable places, experiencing Australia well beyond the typical tourist path.
Strada Expeditions is the natural result of that journey. It’s my way of sharing the Australia I’ve come to know and love through thoughtfully designed experiences that are personal, genuine and tailored to every traveller.
The Meaning of Strada

Our vision is to connect people with the wild and authentic beauty of Australia through tailor-made journeys that are personal and transformative. Each expedition is designed to awaken a sense of wonder, slow the pace, and create a genuine connection with nature, local culture, and oneself.
In Italian, Strada means much more than just the
"open road". It also means the "path" or the "journey". It’s an invitation to set out, to follow roads that lead far into the landscape and, at the same time, even deeper within ourselves. Because "fare Strada" means to keep moving forward, growing, learning and evolving with purpose and passion along the way.
Australia has a unique way of inspiring this. Its vastness, its silence, and its endless roads evoke a sense of freedom that’s hard to put into words: that moment when you leave the city behind and realise you’re truly out there, part of something bigger.
And this is exactly what Strada has meant to me throughout my journey in Australia. A path of exploration, challenges, and personal growth. Today, we guide other travellers along their own Strada, to share this same spirit of discovery.
